Mumbai to Kashmir by train: the Jammu connection

The Ministry of Railways confirmed the extension of the Srinagar–Katra Vande Bharat service to Jammu Tawi on 30 April 2026. Its announcement identifies Mumbai among the cities connected with Jammu, making Jammu a useful interchange for onward rail travel into Kashmir. See the official railway announcement.

Build your journey as separate stages: your Mumbai departure station to Jammu Tawi, an onward service to Srinagar, and a station transfer to your accommodation. Check both rail legs for the correct dates before committing to hotels. Do not assume the arrival of one train is timed to connect with the next.

1. Search your intended Mumbai departure station and travel date on IRCTC.
2. Check the onward Jammu Tawi–Srinagar service, operating day and seat availability for the connection you need.
3. Allow a connection buffer and consider an overnight stop if the timings do not work comfortably.
4. Confirm the pickup station and arrival time with your Kashmir travel provider. A station pickup differs from an airport pickup.
5. Recheck train status through National Train Enquiry System before departure.

Mumbai to Srinagar by flight

Compare airline schedules into Srinagar for your travel date, including any connection, checked baggage and change fees. Read the total journey duration rather than comparing only the first flight's departure time. A connecting itinerary needs enough time for the transfer and any baggage requirements.
